R.I.P. Gil Scott Heron

The legend Gil Scott Heron tragically passed away this weekend after giving the world his music for over 50 years. Born in Chi-Town and died in New York he was the voice of many black generations and his words spanned decades. His samples were used in the work of Common and Kanye West and most recently his "I'm New Here" LP was mashed up by Jamie XX. At 62 he really was a living legend, releasing albums right up until his death. I'm New Here was the first album he had done in 16 years and was worlds away from the poetry he first came out with many years ago. A wealth of artists have paid their tributes including Common and even Eminem and Laska Sak are giving you a link to the new Cookin Soul tape which pays tribute to the late great in musical fashion. Click the link below which will take you there.
